Barking Riverside Foreshore, London UK
Built on a former brownfield site, Barking Riverside is projected to become one of Europe’s largest urban developments. As the Principal Designer for the first phase of the foreshore development works, we advanced the project to the construction tender stage and supported consent applications. The main aim was to improve the flood defences in line with the Thames Estuary 2100 Strategy requirements, while respecting the project’s natural environment.
Beckton Gasworks Development, London UK
The Beckton Riverside Regeneration project aims to transform the 30-acre brownfield site into a mixed-use development while reflecting its industrial heritage. Beckett Rankine carried out a detailed flood risk assessment and developed the outline flood defence strategy. This included incorporating a flood defence bund into the wider landscaping, as well as raising the defence levels to satisfy TE2100 strategy requirements .
