As part of the “Hull: Yorkshire Maritime City”, BR was appointed as the councils representative Naval Architect. The project includes the restoration of two historic vessels, the 1960s trawler Arctic Corsair and the 1910s light vessel Spurn.

BR’s responsibilities range from technical advice and support, managing and performing inspections of the vessels, creating specifications of works, managing the restoration of the vessels in shipyards and the management of the towing and drydocking operations. Furthermore, as the project required Heritage Lottery Funding (HLF), comprehensive Statements of Significance, Conservation Management Plans and Maintenance Management Plans were produced by BR for both vessels. This allowed the council to create a suite of documents that could be used to by the council to manage the conservation of their ships for the foreseeable future, and to demonstrate to the HLF that the council has a structured plan and the means to maintain the vessels.
