Dredging at Newhaven twice a year in order to maintain adequate depth of water in the entrance channel for the port and at the berths. A trailing suction dredger is used to dredge about 250,000T per annum. The spoil, which is a combination of sand and silt, is deposited at an approved offshore dumping ground.

Beckett Rankine prepared and tendered the contract for the biannual maintenance dredging. Our work now includes administration of the contract and supervision of the dredging work and surveys. Formal returns are made to the authorities for quantities of material dumped at sea.
