The Gujarat Government is developing a ferry service within the Gulf of Cambay. Following initial studies by Beckett Rankine, the implementation of the initial passenger and RoRo terminals at Gogha and Dahej were on a design/construct basis under a single contract. The sites are subject to high tidal ranges up to 12m and strong currents.

Having undertaken the initial location studies and prepared the tender document, Beckett Rankine was appointed by Gujarat Maritime Board to review the design and to act as Project Management Consultant for the implementation of the works.

The marine structures designed included approach causeways/trestles, linkspans, pontoons and berthing/mooring structures at each location with options to install wave screens. Both terminals required considerable capital dredging and regular maintenance dredging.
