Dock facilities were being developed on the Walney Channel to serve the Barrow Offshore Windfarm project. Four separate vessel berths were need- ed for the quick deployment of crew and vessels, and an innovative pontoon mooring design was called for to meet the poor condition of existing structures and a large tidal range.

Using the latest ‘Dockmaster’ design, Beckett Rankine’s configuration included the restraining of the pontoon without the need for large diameter piles. The existing facilities were also expanded to include a fueling station providing an alongside fueling facility for the crew transfer vessels.

Since installation the chartered vessel range has changed and modifications made to the deck hardware to suit the increased usage and developments within the industry. The berths can be effectively modified to suit any change of use requirement.
