The conference was held at Pera House which is the magnificent home to the British Consulate General in Istanbul. Nearly 150 delegates assembled in the ballroom under the ornate 19th century chandeliers to discuss the development of ports in Turkey and the surrounding region. There was a large UK contingent with many representative from the Turkish ports sector. It was also good to see so many delegates from Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Georgia and even Malaysia! Marport kindly hosted a site visit to their impressive container terminal which currently handles nearly 1m TEU pa for MSC.
