The Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) has embarked on an ambitious project to link three of the major industrial hubs in the Gulf of Cambay, Gujarat by establishing a ferry service between the port towns of Gogha which lies south of Bhavnagar on the western side of the gulf to Dahej near Bharuch and Vadodara on the eastern side.
Two world class terminals with RoRo jetties and associated onshore facilities are currently being constructed and are expected to be ready in the first half of 2013. They will provide berth accommodation as well as facilities for the loading and unloading of goods carrying trucks, motor cars and passengers.
World class ferry operators and other interested enterprises from the private sector, both domestic and international, are now being invited by GMB to provide the ferry transportation service. The ferry operators will be required to provide a suitable number of ferry vessels and to operate the ferries with their own crew, in all weather round the year operations.
As their technical consultants, Beckett Rankine are jointly organising two Roadshows with GMB to familiarize potential ferry operators and other interested enterprises with the project. The Roadshows are being held in Mumbai on 11th June 2012 and in London on 28th of June 2012 and will entail a presentation by GMB and Beckett Rankine, followed by B2B meetings between GMB officials, Beckett Rankine and interested operators.
