Construction has started on Atyrau River Port on the Ural River in Kazakhstan. The port is being constructed for Atyrau Ozen Porty as a module loadout facility serving oil exploration operations in the northern Caspian Sea. The photo shows the driving of sheet piles for the wharf front; behind the 200m long frontage will be a piled deck slab to enable modules weighing up to 1,000 tonne supported on self propelled mobile transporters (SPMTs) to be loaded out onto flat top barges. In the second phase of the project an end loading dock is to be added. The D&B contractor is Datoba Construction.
