Beckett Rankine will present a technical paper on the Freetown Port Expansion project this April at the 35th PIANC World Congress 2024 in Cape Town, South Africa.
The paper responds to the Conference theme of ‘Future-ready waterborne transport – Unlocking Africa’, intended to address the works necessary in creating a sustainable maritime sector.
Gordon Rankine, Director, Jonathan Baker, Principal Engineer and Project Manager, and Gemma Turner, Principal Geotechnical Engineer, will share their insights into creative problem-solving during the design and construction process to ensure high-quality results.
They will reflect on navigating complex local and global challenges, including planning for Sierra Leone’s rainy season and pivoting the design when international wars impacted the supply chain.
The Freetown Port Expansion comes off the back of over 25 years’ experience of African projects. Beckett Rankine has completed a significant number of projects in Nigeria, as well as working in Angola, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Libya, Mauritania, Mozambique, and Tanzania.
Conference attendees can listen to the presentation at 14:50, Tuesday 30 April, or visit exhibition stand 31 for more information.
