An LNG plant near Soyo in northern Angola was being developed for LNG, LPG and Condensate, transported to the site by a range of tankers and carriers. The LNG plant carriers required operational support for berthing and manoeuvring in the navigation channel and a service craft berthing area was needed near the marine operations support dock.
Beckett Rankine was commissioned to undertake a suitability assessment and FEED engineering study for a LNG service vessel base for this terminal. Various fixed jetty and floating pontoon options for the accomodation of tugs and other support vessels were considered.
Marine operations will be supported by a fleet of smaller service vessels to assist with the docking and undocking of tankers as well as providing a safe escort in the approach channel. This LNG Project will facilitate the increased production of Angola’s abundant oil and gas reserves.
