Enderby Wharf is on the west side of the Blackwall peninsula, and the site had recently been acquired for mixed a commercial, residential and hotel development. The river frontage is adjacent to a self scouring deep water pocket just inshore of the shipping channel, providing an ideal location for the much needed ‘walk ashore’ cruise facility.
Beckett Rankine undertook the design of the marine aspects of a new shore connected cruise terminal that would accommodate vessels between 70m and 240m in length. Limited additional dredging was needed so that the facility would accommodate river-buses and other river passenger vessels.
The project, which will provide London with its first ever purpose built cruise terminal, is strategically located mid way between the O2 Arena and historic Greenwich. It forms part of a major residential and commercial redevelopment with a new hotel operating in conjunction with the cruise terminal.
