St Marys Harbour Moorings

Year
1999
Project Type
Marinas and Small Craft
Location
UK

The Duchy of Cornwall planned to improve the facilities available for small craft at St. Marys Harbour. The objective was to increase the number of berths available to local users, while at the same time attracting more visiting yachts. This was achieved by the installation of more than 200 new moorings for yachts and small commercial vessels.

A grid of ground chain was chosen to provide security for the moorings and flexibility in the event of different amounts of space being required between boats at a later stage. The chains are fixed to buried high performance anchors and riser chains provide the connection to the floating barges.
