During the summer, Falmouth is a vast haven for sailing and recreational watersports. The Port Pendennis marina is a prominent residential area overlooking yacht moorings. A new outer harbour of marina pontoon berths was required for mooring yachts and to provide direct access to the marina facilities and activity areas ashore.

Beckett Rankine prepared layout plans for the marina, designed the piles and specified the associated infrastructure. Designs were also prepared for the pontoons using concrete with polystyrene buoyancy. These were cast by the client with our supervision and installed against the steel tubular piles.

Falmouth is a natural harbour in South West UK and traditionally has been a safe haven for seafarers before and after long voyages. On 8 February 2005, Ellen MacArthur returned to Port Pendennis Marina in Falmouth following her 71 day record breaking single handed round the world voyage.
