A new tank farm was needed at Diesel Power’s expanding Onne marine terminal to accommodate the fuels required to support their marine oils business. The project needed to take into account the many limiting factors of building in the area, such as unstable ground conditions and environmental awareness.

Beckett Rankine advised on the foundation design of a series of large tanks in which oil could be stored at Onne. Because of the poor ground conditions at this estuarine site, strong foundations were needed so piles were driven into the ground in order to provide a stable base for the tanks.

The Diesel Power site at Onne is multifunctional, with a combination of offshore supply and fabrication activities. Following the recent upgrade, the yard can now handle modules up to 1500 tonnes. A large fleet of fuel barges and other support vessels operate from this terminal.
