Two years ago, Beckett Rankine charted new territories when it opened its Glasgow branch in spring 2023.
Beckett Rankine’s bases in London, Bristol and Glasgow allow us to provide a meaningful presence across the UK more easily.
From our Queen’s Street base, the Scottish team is headed by Associate Director, John Monasta, and has firmly planted its feet in the city.
John comments,
“Scotland is a hotbed for engineering and naval architecture, rife with innovation. When we opened, we aimed to provide a responsive service for prospective and existing clients in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the north of England. The last two years have shown how effective we can be in providing a local service backed by national and international experience.”
Our portfolio in Scotland includes conservation management for historic ships in Glasgow and Dundee, detailed transport studies of the inter-island ferries for Shetland and Orkney, as well as supporting infrastructure for the RNLI.
Fraser Hogg, Senior Engineer hailing from Dumfries, joined the Glasgow team in January 2024, bringing his broad experience in ports, harbours and asset management.
Now the team continues to grow as they prepare to welcome two summer placement students, followed in September 2025 with the onboarding of a Graduate Naval Architect and a Graduate Maritime Civil Engineer.
John added,
“Nurturing the next generation is a key part of Beckett Rankine’s ethos. We’re delighted to provide opportunities to train and support the engineers and naval architects of the future.
And we must be doing something right – we’ve had summer interns return for consecutive years, and now we’re thrilled to welcome a former intern as a graduate engineer this year.”
