A small private dinghy harbour was needed to provide shelter for two pleasure boats with direct access to Poole Harbour and the sea beyond. Although the protected area is only 17 metres by 10 metres, it created a pleasant environment and a useful addition to the back garden of one of the substantial residential properties along this coastline.

Beckett Rankine planned, designed, and supervised the project. The marina walls were constructed using cantilevered sheet piles driven into the firm sandy bed. The seabed within the marina was dredged to a level that enabled access by small craft at almost all tide levels.

The existing concrete flood defence walls were retained and integrated into the main structure. This was to keep the cost down and to simplify procedures for planning and other statutory approvals. Timber walkways were installed to give access to vessels around the marina.
