English Point is a natural harbour located along an inland creek approximately one mile from the Kenyan coastline. The requirement was for a marina with yacht berths, a breakwater and sailing centre and a slipway for the launch and recovery of boats that would add value to the proposed luxury waterside development.

Beckett Rankine was asked to produce a feasibility study encompassing consideration of the key marine issues, preliminary concept drawings for the marina basin, an outline design for the breakwater for budget costing and options and recommendations for the way forward.

The marina is now a developing waterside leisure site attracting cruising yachts from the Seychelles, Mauritus and South Africa. As East Africa’s first floating pontoon marina, with fully serviced berths, it has set the standard for Keyna’s future luxury waterside developments.
