The Yemen LNG Company Ltd was working on the design and construction of an LNG plant in the Republic of Yemen. Located at Balhaf on the Gulf of Aden, the plant includes a jetty approximately 750 m from the shore to allow loading of LNG carriers. The bathymetry around the jetty is very complex and includes a large variation in water depth along the berth.

Beckett Rankine were asked by Kellogg, the main contractor at the site, to perform an analysis and review of their sub-contractor’s jetty head design and proposed construction method to include an analysis of the weather effects on the pile installation and configuration.

Today, the LNG export facilities in Balhaf are able to accommodate the loading of vessels with capacities ranging from 70,000 m3 to 205,000 m3 and the proven production capacity of the plant supplies many of Yemen’s sales commitments in the Asian, European and American markets.
